Organizations, Members and Guests…oh my!

This post is part of our “Mega Ultra Super BugHerd Update” series this week. These awesome new features will be released next week. Stay tuned!

If you’re someone who works on multiple projects with multiple companies, the latest BugHerd update is about to make your life easier!

Maybe you can relate to this…
I run a start up and do some web consulting work on the side. I run BugHerd on my site and need to use it on my clients’ sites too. Using the new “Organizations” feature, I can use one log in to access everything! I can switch organizations using the drop down menu and it’s clear which I’m account I’m in at any time. No more accidentally creating projects under the wrong account!

We now have two types of project users too:

Members

We used to call them developers. They’re now team members. These folks can have access to the admin to view all the tasks for a project. Anyone who needs to know what’s going on is a member.

Members can be upgraded to Managers to create projects and manage users. They can also be super upgraded to Owners to access and manage the account and billing details.

Guests

These peeps used to be called reporters. Guests do not get behind-the-scenes access to your project. They can log and look at their own tasks, but not see anyone else’s, nor the admin. One cool thing is that you can now let guests control the status of a bug. This gets them a little bit more involved without letting them see too much!

Guests no longer need to register on BugHerd. When you send an invite, they receive a link which they simply click on to start logging bugs straight away. Easy as!

You can upgrade a guest to a member at any time, and you can also be a guest with one organization and a member of another. How flexible!

Send us an email at support@bugherd.com if you need any help tinkering with organizations, members or guests.
